In Germany, around one million people require speech therapy. Speech therapists treat people with impairments in the areas of language/speech, voice, swallowing, speech fluency and hearing. They independently carry out medically prescribed therapies for patients of all ages - from infants to adults. Speech therapists prepare diagnoses and advise patients and their relatives. They often work in the field of rehabilitation and prevention. Places of work include speech therapy practices, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, support centers, integrative daycare centers and schools. The aim of the training is to acquire speech therapy professionalism in accordance with the latest research in speech therapy and relevant scientific findings in order to be able to:
- To treat patients with language, speech, voice, swallowing, hearing and speech fluency disorders,
- to cooperate with the treating physician and relevant institutions,
- to carry out diagnostics, therapies and consultations independently and on one's own responsibility on the basis of medical prescriptions.
