Well prepared for nursing practice
Since January 1, 2020, nursing professionals in Germany have been trained on a generalist basis on the basis of the Nursing Professions Act. This means that after their training, they are qualified to care for people of all ages and can work in all areas of nursing care. The three areas of care are acute inpatient care, outpatient care and long-term inpatient care. During their training, trainees must complete practical placements in all of these areas. In addition, there are placements in pediatrics and psychiatric care. In addition, they have the opportunity to set their own priorities in elective placements. The trainees spend the majority of their practical training with the provider of the practical training. The AdG has the advantage of cooperating with institutions from all areas of care and can therefore provide the trainees with optimal support. A total of 2500 practical hours must be completed during the three-year training.
A big advantage of training to become a qualified nurse is the legally required focus on skills. This means that trainees learn what they really need in order to act appropriately in complex care situations.
The theoretical training comprises 2100 hours. The content is based on a nationwide binding framework curriculum. This increases the level of the qualification and ensures the quality of care for those in need of care across the board.
The training is divided into theoretical and practical phases, based on the dual training system established in Germany. The great advantage here is a continuous transfer of theory to practice and, conversely, the theoretical learning location always deals with current topics from practice. Of course, the trainees are not sent out into practice without appropriate preparation. In our skills labs at the third learning location, training and transfer, the trainees can try out newly learned nursing techniques in a protected space, train skills and experience and reflect on realistic nursing situations in simulations.
