Under the motto “Interdisciplinary = giving impulses together”, the professional groups of emergency paramedics and nursing professionals conducted an interdisciplinary simulation week on the care of emergency patients at the Eberswalde campus from March 13th to March 17th, 2023.
Providing adequate care to people in emergency situations is a responsible task for the rescue services and emergency rooms. Patient care begins with the emergency call made from the emergency site. This is continued by the rescue services all the way to the hospital. An important interface is between the rescue services and the emergency room and includes medical, non-medical, structural and organizational aspects. There must be no gaps in care here. Gaps in care can be incorrectly used material and personnel resources, but also a lack of information flow. This can result in the resources required not being available to patients in a timely manner and thus ending up in a life-threatening condition. Optimizing this interface means improving the quality of care for people in emergency situations. At the Academy of Health on the Eberswalde campus, this interface between the rescue services and the emergency room is to be trained using simulation-based settings as part of the training in order to minimize information gaps between the pre- and intra-clinical areas and the people affected.
