Preparatory course over 80 hours

In our 80-hour express course, we prepare you for the oral and practical knowledge test. You will learn various nursing theory content. In addition, you have the opportunity to work on further content using our online learning platform.

In addition to the lessons, you will have practical phases with your employer. There, content from the theoretical area will be deepened and applied.

There you will be accompanied by practical supervisors and mentors.
The course concludes with a practical and oral knowledge test. There you have the opportunity to show that you understand nursing!

Nursing professionals from non-EU countries and non-European countries who have completed vocational training in their home country and who would like to take the knowledge test to recognize the equivalence of their training as a health and nursing professional for the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg.

When registering for the preparatory course, please submit the following documents:

  • Proof of German language skills; at least level B2
  • Notice from the responsible state office to carry out the knowledge test
  • Residence permit / work permit
  • Short CV

The 80-hour preparatory course consists of the following content modules:

  • Therapeutic care as part of basic care
  • Organizing, designing, controlling and evaluating the care process
  • Communication and consulting
  • Pain Management and Drug Supply
  • Care for diseases of the central nervous system and dementia
  • Care for heart and lung diseases
  • Care for Diabetes Mellitus and Basic Life Support
  • The German healthcare system and legal framework
  • Basics of Hygienic Work
  • Case-Oriented Exam Preparation

During the courses, the needs of the participants are determined so that they can be addressed individually.

In the practical phase, which usually takes place in the employer's facility or the later examining facility, the professional skills of the training participants are consolidated with targeted learning and reflection tasks. This learning process is accompanied by practical instruction in the facility and can be supported by the teachers at the Academy of Health if necessary.

  • After completing the preparatory course, participants receive a certificate of participation.
