Vocational training and further education
The Academy of Health offers outstanding and innovative training for nursing, therapeutic and medical-technical health professions. It cooperates with numerous clinics, rehabilitation centers and care facilities. The trainees at the academy prepare for practice in very well-equipped skill centers - from the operating room to the occupational therapy workshop. In addition to technical and interdisciplinary knowledge, social skills and learning strategies are taught that prepare for the demands of the future health market. Additional qualifications can be obtained during the training. Graduates of the academy can find career opportunities throughout Europe, as the training meets the relevant guidelines.
In a complex and dynamically innovative healthcare system, tailored training opportunities enable both personal and corporate success. The Academy of Health relies on dialogue with its members and cooperation partners to select the right training opportunities and develop concepts for securing skilled workers in the long term.
The qualification of international specialists occupies a special position in the field of professional training and further education, especially against the background of the shortage of skilled workers that has been worsening for years. Since 2008, the Academy of Health has been supporting international nursing professionals in obtaining recognition of the equivalence of their training for the German health system - for the federal states of Berlin and Brandenburg.
Institute
The two institutes - the Institute for Social Teaching and Learning (IfsLL) and the Institute for Digital Teaching and Media (IfdLM) support the educational processes at the Academy of Health in all educational areas. The focus of the IfsLL is on the topic of social-educational support for educational participants, as well as individualized learning. Specially trained specialists for the field and targeted learning coaching offers support educational participants in achieving their individual learning goals. With its integration and expertise from every health profession at the Academy of Health, the IfdLM offers the best possible basis for teaching and implementing the most modern, digital courses.
University education
Demographic developments, changing care needs, the increasing need for interprofessional collaboration, digitalization, and technical and scientific developments are already placing changing demands on our future healthcare professionals. As a result, training occupations must be reorganized with regard to future-oriented and needs-based requirements.
The key points paper of the federal-state working group “Overall concept for health professions” laid down this reorganization and strengthening of health professions and at the same time forms the basis for fundamental reforms in the training of health professions.
With the amendment of the Midwifery Act, the profession of midwife/obstetric nurse is the first training profession under the umbrella of the Academy of Health, which by law must be offered as a degree program for the first time at the end of the transition period in 2023. Nursing training has already undergone partial academization with the changeover to generalist nursing training and is already being offered as a degree program by some universities.
According to the “Overall Concept for Health Professions”, the training occupations of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy will follow the academic orientation.
The Academy of Health supports the path of academic orientation and is already preparing for the changing educational landscape. You can find more information on academization here .
