Training course “Basics of wound management for chronic wounds”

Given demographic developments and the growing proportion of older people, an increasing need for wound care for people with chronic wounds is to be expected.

By attending our training course, you will strengthen your personal professional competence and sustainably improve the quality of life of people with chronic wounds.

With the basic knowledge you have acquired, you can initiate and support the professional care of people with chronic wounds and promote preventive strategies.

The Academy of Health offers the training course “Basics of wound management for chronic wounds” in two modules. You decide which modules you would like to participate in.

Continuing education for practical instructors

Anyone interested, including nurses and people involved in wound care. There are no specific admission criteria.

The advanced training “Basics of wound management for chronic wounds” serves solely to expand your own competence and does not replace the recognition procedures of DEKRA and ICW®!

Module 1: Basic knowledge of chronic wounds"

  • Microbiology / Hygiene
  • Theoretical Foundations of Vascular Systems
  • Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and venous leg ulcers / treatment and therapy
  • Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Diseases (PAOD) and Ulcus cruris arteriosum and mixtum / Treatment and Therapy
  • Theoretical Foundations of Compression Therapy
  • Legal Aspects in Wound Care
  • Decubitus ulcers / prevention, treatment and therapy
  • Diabetic Foot Syndrome / Treatment and Therapy
  • Infection management
  • Wound assessment and wound documentation

Module 2: "Basic knowledge of chronic wounds"

  • Wound cleaning and wound irrigation
  • Basics of Wound Management and Material Science
  • Wound assessment and wound documentation (in-depth)
  • Nutrition
  • Health Economics / Interface Management
  • Tumor wounds
  • Education
  • Lymphedema and lipedema
  • Complex wound situation / skin damage
  • Fallmanagement
  • Exam preparation

Practical part

  • Professional hand hygiene
  • Introduction of wound products and wound irrigation
  • Compression techniques for Ulcus cruris venosum

  • Module 1: 40 teaching units (45 minutes each)
  • Module 2: 36 teaching units (45 minutes each)
  • Practical part of the instruction: 8 teaching units

After successfully completing both modules, participants will receive the advanced training certificate “Fundamentals of Wound Management for Chronic Wounds”.
